Budoy Marabiles earned his art education at the UP Cebu Fine Arts Program. He won several art competitions during his student years. Among these are in Jose Joya Awards (painting competition) PLDT-GTE National Cover Design Competition, Philippine Art Awards (Philip Morris) inaugural edition and On-the Spot Mural Painting Competition, Earth Day, Quezon City Circle. At one point of his artist life, he shifted to a different medium of expression -- music. He became known as a musician and a TV personality. In 2009, he was chosen to make an art piece for Sungduan5 exhibition of NCCA. It became pivotal for him to rekindle his interest for visual arts. In 2010, he mounted an exhibition of furniture made from recycled materials. The rest is history. It was a sold-out show. That same year, he was offered to represent the country for the World Expo in Shanghai, China, not as a visual artist but as an "urban music performer". He took the challenge and to this day, such stint has made a huge impact and impression on him, influencing his current artistic sensibility.
