Demiurgency

16 - 30 May 2026

Jasper Villacin

In the era of digital natives, the phone is ever-present. It stays with us from the moment we wake until we fall asleep, so we never truly log out, constantly co-creating digital realities until we are challenged to see where the skin ends and the profile begins.

Merging the ideas of “demiurge” or creator and “urgency,” Demiurgency frames us as makers of our own digital worlds and explores raw experiences of living inside a screen. It is a journey through highs and lows of being "online." The exhibition urges us to reclaim power over our perceptions and behaviors shaped by social media platforms, and calls us to question how these forces influence our reality.

Through paintings on glass with integrated augmented reality (AR) and interactive digital art, the exhibition places viewers in a liminal space where the physical gallery and the virtual world overlap and blur. It analyzes the relationship between social media and our generation, telling the phenomenon’s spectrum of emotions and experiences, with each piece following a narrative of becoming in the digital age.
