Designer pop-up featuring Nico Okumura / nicodesign
In “Metamorphosis,” Nico Okumura presents a fine jewellery collection that draws on vegetables and fruits used as garnishes, like parsley, tomato stems, and peppers. He takes his observations of mundane items and reinterprets them into pieces worth keeping and remembering.
The designer has developed a particular technique moulding these innately delicate shapes in 18-karat gold and sterling silver, where no two pieces are ever alike. What were once dismissed on a plate have now become earrings, rings, necklaces, and brooches. Okumura hopes that through this transformation, these new forms take on new meaning and that the beauty he finds in his practice of working with ordinary objects extends to the wearer themselves, and onto something they discover and take pride in wearing.
